Credit Card

Credit card debt can sometimes be handled on your own, but it helps to find a credit card with a 0% introductory rate.

Credit Card

You shop online, right? Okay, maybe only half of you do. But have you ever shopped for a credit card online? It's the best way to find a good deal on a credit card!

Beth's Story

"I used to be in debt. Actually, I only had $3,400 left in credit card debt. It was my only debt besides my car payment, so I thought that was pretty good. Then my fiancee Steve suggested that I transfer that credit card debt to a credit card with a 0% introductory rate, no annual fee and no balance transfer fee. I thought I would try to pay the entire balance off during the 0% introductory period, but it would be hard what with wedding planning and all. My goal was not to let the wedding send us into debt. But Steve pointed out that there are so many credit cards offering a 0% introductory rate that I could just transfer any remaining amounts to another card with a 0% introductory rate. I thought this was a great idea, so I kept a close eye on the mailbox for a credit card offer like that. Then a friend of mine suggested going online to find this kind of card. There are websites out there that compare different cards, and I could find exactly what I need and get the whole process going immediately instead of sitting around waiting for the perfect credit offer to come in the mail while I kept paying interest."

Beth went along with her plan and got her debt paid off in this manner in a few years. That was back when it was a lot easier to find credit cards that didn't charge balance transfer fees. But now a lot of credit card companies know people are trying to pay off credit card debts this way, so it's getting harder and harder to find one that doesn't have a balance transfer fee. If you can find one, do the transfer. But try to pay it off as soon as possible to save yourself the hassle.
